Entry #1: Music is Cathartic
Everyone at some point in their lives has connected to music. Whether it's a song they listen to, a band or artist they admire, or if they actually play the music themselves. Music is so versatile that it helps countless people everyday. I find playing the music myself to be more cathartic than just listening to it though.
Drumming has been a huge outlet for me. It can push you through certain emotions instead of just sitting with it. If I'm mad, there's nothing more satisfying than banging on drums and letting that aggression out. And if I'm sad, I can play a slower song. It forces you to concentrate on what you're doing while also letting your feelings out. If you're happy and feeling good, you can play happy songs. The possibilities are endless.
This doesn't just apply to drumming though. This outlet can apply to any instrument. Or really anything that helps you push those feelings out. Drumming just happens to be the one for me. There's something out there for everyone, you just might have to search for it!
Until next time!

I really enjoy your visuals in your blog. It brings a sense of joy that is described in your post. Music was a great topic to broaden your audience. It seems as though it has connected with you in ways that are beneficial and that is evident here. Overall this is great work.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you explain the catharsis of music, especially drumming. Channeling those emotions is the best way to release them if you are angry, sad, or elated. I do agree that music, or in general, art forms, are strong vehicles of expression. Each individual just needs to find their own favorite one for expressing themselves.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your perspective on what music does for people mentally. I myself am majoring in audio production, and one thing that made me want to do that is because I know how much music means to an individual. What I'd suggest for a blog in the future is finding a source that tells us more about drumming or facts about drums for the ones who want to learn but overall good work and keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGreat writing! I play guitar and feel the same way you do about playing an instrument is a great outlet! Drums are definitely super fun! I always used to hop on our drummers kit whenever I had the chance!

DeleteI really liked how you described that drumming is a way to process emotions rather than just a music form. It's very interesting how music can be an emotional release . I agree that everyone has their own outlet to regulate their emotions, its just about finding what works for you. Great post Tristan!
ReplyDeleteI truly love music too, and I'm kind of one of those people who will literally listen to anything. The possibilities are endless and definitely depend on the mood of what I'm going to listen to. I'm really big on classic rock n roll as well as that 90's grunge music, but I also very often listen to country and rap. Just depends on the day.
