Entry #0: Blogs Are Everywhere
Odds are you see a blog every time you open a search engine. Many news stations, personal update websites, and some social media platforms are all considered blogs. Almost everyone reads a blog or has a favorite blog, and they might not even realize it!
Billboard, best known for their role in the music industry, is considered a blog. Music lovers all around, myself included, go to Billboard to see what's happening in the music world. They show this with their, "Top 10," style lists, both potentially being opinion or analytical based lists. For Example, their Billboard Hot 100 list is based on their number of streams. sales, radio play, and downloads. However, their list for The 14 Best Super Bowl Halftime Shows is clearly opinion based. Although they definitely lean toward having a more professional tone and style of wring, seeing as their writing feels like it's speaking to a wide audience, rather than the reader itself, they're still considered a blog. One of the most popular blogs even.
But of course, there's other types and styles of blogs too. Magazines are a great example of another type of blog. Primer Magazine, for example, is probably closer to what people image when they hear the term, "blog." Primer Magazine is a mens fashion blog, giving advice, showing comparisons from now and the past, and they tell their readers when sales are happening. They have a more personal, "I'm talking to you," type of writing. It's that personal, casual feeling people get that makes it feel more like a blog.
